How to Get a Lot of Scrip in Fallout 76?

Scrip is an important currency in Fallout 76, used to buy legendary items and for legendary crafting. You can trade unwanted legendary gear to a Legendary Exchange Machine for Scrip, then spend it with Purveyor Murmrgh at The Rusty Pick. In the current version, legendary crafting no longer uses the traditional method of rerolling effects—you can now spend Scrip to change legendary effects, so Scrip remains an important resource for crafting and adjusting your gear day to day.

Exchange Values Are Based on Star Rating

The Legendary Exchange Machine calculates Scrip mainly from the item type and its legendary star rating. The current exchange values for standard legendary gear are:

Bethesda has adjusted the number of legendary enemies in later patches, but the developers have still stated that Eviction Notice generally has more legendary enemies than other public events. If your backpack and carry weight allow, sort your legendary gear after the event and send the unwanted pieces to a Legendary Exchange Machine.

A Most Sensational Game

A Most Sensational Game is one of the Atlantic City Expeditions. Completing it rewards legendary gear, Scrip, and other resources such as Legendary Modules. Expeditions suit characters who need to farm legendary gear continuously. Completing the optional objectives improves the reward efficiency, so once you are familiar with the route and objectives, you can make it one of your daily sources of legendary gear.

Daily Ops

Daily Ops also rewards legendary gear and Scrip. The operation can be repeated, and the faster you complete it, the more content you can finish in your limited playtime. Daily Ops suits characters who already have solid equipment and builds. Once you are familiar with the enemy types, the map, and the current daily modifiers, you can complete it even faster.

Public Events

Public events are one of the most stable sources of legendary gear. Different events have different numbers of legendary enemies and rewards, so prioritize the high-yield events currently on the map. The 2026 updates have also adjusted the reward pools for public events and Activities. Current public event rewards include legendary items, Legendary Modules, Treasury Notes, and more, so taking part not only prepares gear for the exchange but also builds up other resources at the same time.

What to Do After the Daily 500

The most common problem with earning Scrip is the daily exchange allowance. According to Bethesda's current notes, each character can earn 500 Scrip per day from Legendary Exchange Machines, and a character can hold up to 11,000 Scrip. Once you reach the holding cap, exchanging more legendary gear yields no additional Scrip.

You can handle surplus gear in the following ways:

Keep the legendary gear. After you use up the day's allowance, there is no need to deal with the remaining gear right away. Put high-value three-star weapons, three-star armor, and power armor in your stash and wait for the next allowance reset.

Use multiple characters. If your account has several characters, each has its own Scrip exchange allowance. The main character's large amount of legendary gear can be managed through a shared stash box or by transferring items between characters, and each alt can use its own exchange allowance.

This raises how much legendary gear your whole account can process each day, but you also have to consider character carry weight, stash space, and the management cost of moving items around.

Wait for Scrip Surplus. During a Scrip Surplus event, the daily exchange allowance is raised. The legendary gear you have accumulated can be exchanged in bulk during the event, reducing the time it sits in storage.

Watch the 11,000 Scrip cap. If a character is already close to 11,000 Scrip, there is no need to keep exchanging large amounts of legendary gear. Spend some Scrip at The Rusty Pick first, then continue processing the gear in your backpack. This avoids wasting exchange value after hitting the cap.

Bethesda has confirmed that Purveyor is located at The Rusty Pick in the Ash Heap and accepts Scrip as payment. Legendary crafting has changed in the current version. After the 2024 Milepost Zero update, legendary effects are no longer randomly refreshed through the traditional "reroll" method—you now learn or craft specific legendary mods instead. Scrip's main crafting role is buying Legendary Modules from Purveyor Murmrgh, and those Modules are what you need to make an item legendary or to craft a specific mod. So if you already have a base item and only need to adjust its legendary effects, your Scrip is best spent on Legendary Modules rather than on repeatedly buying random legendary items.

Improving Daily Scrip Efficiency

Getting a lot of Scrip does not mean you have to keep repeating the same activity. A more sensible approach is to arrange your legendary gear around the daily 500 allowance. Use three-star gear to finish the day's exchange first, then store the rest. While taking part in Eviction Notice, A Most Sensational Game, Daily Ops, and other public events, you can collect legendary gear at the same time. Scrip from daily quests is extra income and does not have to come entirely from the exchange machine. If you need a lot of Scrip over the long term, you can also use multiple characters' exchange allowances separately. When a Scrip Surplus event arrives, process the gear you saved earlier. This reduces pressure on your stash and improves exchange efficiency during special events.
