Fallout 76 July 21, 2026 Update and Event Preview
The July 21 weekly reset has brought several updates to Appalachia. The Summer Sock Hop mini season is now live and will run through August 4. Players can choose between the mini season and the main season from the Season menu—both share the same pool of Tickets, earned through daily and weekly challenges. The Atomic Shop has also received its weekly refresh with new and returning items, while the Treasure Hunt Weekend event starting Thursday will see Mole Miner Treasure Hunters reappear across the map. Minerva is stationed at Fort Atlas this week, and Smiley on the second floor of The Wayward has completed his weekly gold bullion inventory reset. The following sections break down each of these developments.

Summer Sock Hop Mini Season
This mini season runs for two weeks, split into Week 1 (July 21–27) and Week 2 (July 28–August 3), each with its own set of challenges. The core activity revolves around a dance called the "Shimmy Dance" emote—players need to use this emote at twelve designated locations, including Berkeley Springs, Black Bear Lodge, Camden Park, Morgantown High School, Sandy's Sock Hop, and Watoga High School. Alongside the location-based challenges, team kill challenges require defeating 50 Blood Eagles and 76 Rust Raiders while on a team.
Rewards are redeemed in a fixed order. Players must first unlock the free "Shimmy Dance" emote, then progress through the Hot Shot Motorcycle (which grants Endurance and Charisma bonuses), the "Varnished" C.A.M.P. title prefix and "Gym" title suffix, Sock Hop Boy and Girl Cutouts, a Black Piano instrument, Sandy's Sock Hop Sign and Poster, a Vault-Tec University Sock Hop Poster, and the "Sock Hop" and "Enjoyer" player titles. The reward lineup focuses on collectibles and decorative items, consistent with the retro 1950s wasteland theme.
Treasure Hunt Weekend: Mole Miners Return
The Treasure Hunt Weekend event begins on Thursday, with Mole Miner Treasure Hunters appearing as legendary enemies across Appalachia. Defeating these treasure hunters yields Mole Miner Pails in three quality tiers—Dusty, Standard, and Ornate—with higher tiers carrying a greater chance of dropping rare rewards. Players can also purchase empty pails from vendor bots and craft their own; crafted Ornate pails offer the highest rare item drop rate at 60%.
The reward pool spans multiple categories: Pink Sprinkles Power Armor paints, the TV Aquarium, wildlife-themed plushies (including the Wanamingo and Safari Crocolossus backpack), the Circus Cage Trailer, the Neon Light Diner Clock, cement barricades, and various jet pack plans—items that balance practical utility with collection value. For players who missed any previous Treasure Hunt rewards, this round offers a solid opportunity to catch up.

Minerva and Smiley: Where to Spend Your Gold This Week
Minerva is stationed to the right of the main entrance at Fort Atlas this week, remaining through Wednesday noon. Her current Inventory List 19 offers all plans at 25% off standard prices with no faction reputation requirements, covering sixteen plans including the Chinese Stealth Armor and Helmet, Secret Service Jet Pack Armor, Hellfire Prototype Power Armor Paint, and War Glaive Cryo Blade. For those who miss this rotation, the Big Sale at The Whitespring Resort from July 30 to August 3 will combine all items from Lists 17, 18, and 19, providing a second purchase window. Smiley on the second floor of The Wayward has reset his weekly stock. Players who have completed the relevant Vault 79 questline can exchange caps for gold bullion with him:
The exchange starts at 1,000 caps for 50 gold bullion and scales proportionally, with a weekly cap of 6,000 caps for 300 gold bullion.
Smiley's exchange limit is tied to the player's current gold bullion balance—holding more than 5,000 gold bullion prevents further purchases from him, even though the overall player cap is 10,000. A fix for this limitation is planned in a future patch.
Gold bullion obtained through Smiley can be spent on plans and gear from Minerva, faction vendors, and within Vault 79.
Treasury Notes remain the other primary source of gold bullion—up to 400 bullion can be exchanged per day, which combined with Smiley's 300 weekly bullion brings the maximum weekly gold bullion intake to approximately 1,700.
The July 21 weekly reset introduces the compact challenge rhythm of the mini season alongside the Atomic Shop's new rotation, while Thursday's Treasure Hunt Weekend provides a focused hunting window for filling gaps in rare plan collections. Minerva's stay at Fort Atlas has two days remaining—players with purchases to make are advised to complete their transactions before Wednesday noon. Smiley's gold bullion exchange has also reset for the week, and combined with daily Treasury Note turn-ins, this week's gold bullion accumulation efficiency sits at a relatively high level.
