ARC Raiders Turbine Mech Boss Fight Guide
The nastiest things in ARC Raiders aren't the big ground units, they're the ones that fly. When the Turbine first dropped with Riven Tides, my first few runs were basically free kills for it, I'd see it hovering and spray at it, empty my mag while it didn't flinch, and it would answer with a couple of missiles. It took a while to get it through my head that this boss can't be brute-forced with raw damage, you have to wait for it to open up its own weak point. So here's the mess I made and the approach I settled on afterward, so anyone still dumping ammo into the sky can save themselves some time.

Don't shoot it in the air, wait for it to land and watch the lights
The Turbine runs on one simple rule. Its armor is absurdly thick while it's airborne and it barely takes damage, the only real damage window is the ten or so seconds after it lands and opens its shell, and when it lands comes down entirely to the color of its lights.
- A red light means it's still flying with full armor, shooting is just throwing ammo away.
- A yellow light means it's hunting for a landing spot, so don't chase it, get to cover or get inside a building and wait for it to come down, and if its landing spot ends up right next to you, back up a couple of steps so the touchdown doesn't clip you.
- Blue light is your opening, the shell is open, rush out and dump the whole ten seconds onto it, this is the only stretch worth shooting, miss it, and you'll have to wait for another cycle.
The mistake I made first was treating it like a normal elite and chasing it for half a minute, which kept pushing its landing further back while my squad got torn apart. Remember this one rule and you're set, no shots until the blue light.
The yellow canisters are its only real weak point
What it exposes after landing isn't just any part, it's the three yellow canisters on the central rotating mechanism, and that's the only place that takes real damage, shooting the shell or anywhere else is mostly wasted ammo.
- There's a method to the canisters, take the three yellow ones one at a time instead of spreading damage around, blowing one up counts as progress and it's the most efficient way; an explosive armor-breaker like the Hullcracker is the easiest since you don't need to aim perfectly; the Jupiter's penetration is so strong it can even nick the core mid-flight from a distance, though the gunfire draws in other players, and three mines planted beside the canisters ahead of time can basically finish it off.
- The window is only about ten seconds, so pull back if you can't finish it, don't get greedy.
Put plainly, this part is about squeezing burst damage into those ten-odd seconds, don't waste bullets on the shell, and don't expect to finish in one go, staying alive to finish it on the next landing is more realistic.

Staying alive matters more than damage
A short damage window means you have to survive the stretch after it takes off again, and the Turbine's deadliest trick isn't its firepower, it's those attacks that pierce walls and lock down your movement, and failing to dodge them kills you faster than failing to hurt it.
- The lightning barrage pierces walls. Being inside a building isn't automatically safe, so when it fires lightning head deep into the building and away from doors and windows, and out in the open use your dash or an adrenaline shot to dodge it, one clean hit is basically half your health.
- You can shoot the mines. It scatters them before and during landing, and their blast radius isn't small, so detonate the ones you can early, safer than walking around them.
- If it takes a hit while airborne it fires homing missiles, which is exactly why I keep saying don't shoot it in the air, the damage you deal won't break its armor anyway and all you buy is a line of missiles chasing you, pure loss.
- Solo is genuinely rough, so bring teammates if you can, it buys a lot more room for error.
To be blunt, this boss is a test of patience, you burst it down while it's landed and manage your movement after it takes off, and if both are solid it's just a flying target.
The Turbine is honestly not that scary once you get the rhythm, it just uses flying and armor to intimidate you, and the real hurdle is whether you're willing to wait those ten seconds. Save your ammo for the blue-light window, keep your attention on its lightning and mines, and the rhythm shows up after a few tries. On top of that it drops Turbine Compressors, which are the hard-to-get ingredient for new gear and pushing the Avian Alarm project to stage five, so its practical value this version is right there. Wait for it to land, focus your fire, and get out alive, those three things are all there is to it.
