ZZZ Deadly Assault: How to Max Your Score?
Deadly Assault is the mode where a lot of my friends clear Shiyu Defense with no problem and still get stuck at two stars. I was stuck there myself for two whole seasons, convinced it was a build issue, until I finally realized it wasn't. This mode's score doesn't just count damage, there's a block of performance points hidden in it, and if you don't clean up that block, it doesn't matter how cracked your main DPS is. So here's how the score breaks down, the gap between three stars and a true max, and how to push the number up.

Read the score before you swing
Deadly Assault's total isn't a single damage number. It's damage plus performance stacked together, capped at sixty-five thousand, and the three-star bar you actually want is nowhere near that high.
- The total is damage score (capped at 60,000) plus performance points (capped at 5,000), and 65,000 together is the true max.
- Three stars only needs S rank at 20,000, with B at 6,000 and A at 14,000, and the rewards cap out at three stars, so 65,000 is really there for maxed-out whales to flex their investment.
So don't get scared by the word "max." What you want is that 20,000 for three stars, not 65,000. Once you set the right target, the whole approach changes.
Performance points are the shortcut to three stars
Five thousand performance points looks small, but it's usually exactly the gap between two stars and three, and every boss has its own bonus actions, so cleaning those up is way faster than raw damage.
- A perfect dodge or parry gets you about 300.
- Blocking a key attack gives 1,000 and breaking a shield gives 1,500, and these high-value mechanic actions differ from boss to boss, so check what it wants you to do before you start.
- Some bosses want you to trigger a chain attack or an interrupt at a specific moment, and the conditions are written in the stage description, so don't just skip past them.
I was stuck at two stars because I stood there dumping damage and never touched the mechanic points. Once I played to a single boss's bonus conditions with the same team, my score jumped by a few thousand. The problem at low scores is almost never damage, it's mechanic points left on the table.

Damage score comes down to stun windows and team building
Once the performance points are cleaned up, the rest is damage, and the core there isn't mindless stat stacking, it's pressing your burst inside the stun window and handing your three teams to the right people.
- Damage dealt during the stun (daze) window scores far higher than normal, so the loop is build daze, burst with your main DPS, and don't waste your ultimate while the enemy is still bouncing around.
- Read the boss's weaknesses and resistances before you start, and match the right-element main DPS to the right stage, like this rotation's Dead End Butcher is weak to ice and ether, so don't throw an electric unit at it.
- Pick buff cards your team can actually trigger, don't just grab the one with the biggest number.
- The three teams are separate, with no reuse of characters or Bangboo, so put your strongest main DPS on the boss it counters and feed resources to your weakest team first, lifting a low-scoring team pays the most.
Team building here takes more thought than you'd expect. Nine characters across three teams, who fights what and who takes which card, all of it has to be worked out. Last July's rotation had an anomaly team running Remielle with Aria and Velina hitting over 30,000 on Girtablullu at M0W1, and it worked off chain parries plus stun-window burst.
Deadly Assault is at heart a mechanics and team-building test, not a pure build check. The 20,000 for three stars is reachable for most decently built teams once you clean up the performance points, press burst in the stun window, and split your three teams sensibly; the 65,000 true max is for whales to show off, so the rest of us can just watch. Set your target at three stars, clean up the mechanic points, and you'll find that door you've been stuck at for two seasons actually swings open with a light push.
