Do Items from Different Sources Have Different Base Stats in Legend of Ymir?

Whether an item's source affects its base stats is a question many players have before gearing up, and the answer directly decides where to invest. The short answer: base stats have nothing to do with the source and depend only on the quality tier; the same item has identical base stats whether it comes from a boss drop, crafting, or a chest. What really determines an item's strength is four layers: quality, affixes, enhancement, and set bonuses. The source difference does not show up in the base stats.

Base Stats Are Set by Quality Tier, Not Source

The level of an item's base stats depends on which quality tier it falls into, and the gap between tiers is fixed.

Anyone hoping to get better base stats by changing the source is wrong from the start; there is no room to adjust this layer.

The Source Decides What Quality You Can Get

The real meaning of the source is that it decides which quality of item you can reliably obtain, rather than changing the base stats.

To obtain high quality, challenge bosses and expeditions of matching difficulty, or stockpile materials to aim for a crafting Great Success; these are the only ways to earn items at this layer.

The Gap Between Same-Quality Items Lies in Affixes and Enhancement

Items of the same quality still differ in strength, and the gap comes from affixes and enhancement.

Appraisal tier and enhancement level are the real dividing line between items of the same quality.

Set Bonuses and Type: Two Other Built-In Differences

Besides base stats, items also carry two other settings: type and set bonuses. Types are split into PvE-oriented, PvP-oriented, and balanced. Set bonuses only activate at 3 pieces and 5 pieces; 2 or 4 pieces trigger nothing. A rare PvE-oriented set grants bonus monster damage at 3 pieces, and monster damage defense plus item drop rate at 5 pieces; an epic PvP-oriented set grants fixed PvP damage and accuracy at 3 pieces, and PvP damage defense plus evasion at 5 pieces.

When gearing up, do not compare base stats by source any more; that number is already fixed by quality. The real contest between items concentrates on affix appraisal, enhancement level, and set bonuses, which are the keys to pulling ahead late game. The only value of the source is deciding which quality tier you can reach. By keeping quality, source, and affixes separate, you can judge which content to challenge and where to put enhancement stones and appraisal materials. Quality decides the base, affixes and enhancement decide the ceiling, and set bonuses decide the direction.
