FC 26 Team of the Week Guide: How TOTW Works and How to Use It
Team of the Week is the longest-running event in Ultimate Team, and it's still one of the most important things to understand if you want to make coins in FC 26. Every single week, EA drops a fresh squad of upgraded cards based on real football, and that drop moves the market whether you pay attention to it or not.
Most players treat TOTW as a background event and only notice it when they pack an in-form. The players who actually understand it use the weekly rhythm to time their buys, sell into demand, and build better squads for less. Here's how it works.

What Team of the Week Actually Is
Team of the Week is EA's weekly release of special player cards, picked from the best performances in real-world football over the previous weekend. Every Wednesday, a squad of players who stood out gets an upgraded card, known as an in-form.
The squad is drawn from leagues worldwide, not just the big ones, and it reflects what actually happened on the pitch. A striker who scored twice, a keeper who made ten saves, a full-back who had the game of his life, all of them can land a spot. That connection to real football is what keeps TOTW relevant week after week.
The point of the event for players is that in-form cards are straight upgrades. The same player, but with better stats, and a version that's rarer and more valuable than their base card.
How In-Form Cards Work
An in-form card is a boosted version of a player's base card, and it behaves differently from a normal card in a few ways that matter.
During the week that a player is in the TOTW squad, their in-form card replaces their base card in packs. Open a pack in that window and pull that player, and you get the upgraded version, not the ordinary one. Once the week passes, the base card returns to packs and the in-form becomes a limited card that only exists in whatever supply was already opened.
That limited supply is what gives in-forms their value. A regular gold card is pulled constantly all year, so its price stays low. An in-form is only available for one week, so the supply is capped, and prices settle higher as a result. That scarcity is the whole reason in-forms trade for more than their base versions.
The upgrade size varies by player. Most in-forms get a modest boost of a few points across the board, with a bigger bump on the stats that earned them the spot. But low-rated players get special treatment. When a 75 to 79 rated player earns their first in-form, EA often hands them a far larger jump that lands them in the 83 to 85 range, a mechanic that turns a cheap base card into a genuinely usable one. Those big-boost cards are some of the best budget options in the game.
When TOTW Drops and Why the Timing Matters
The weekly rhythm of TOTW is one of the most predictable things in FC 26, and predictable timing is money in the transfer market:
- TOTW drops every Wednesday. The new squad goes live at the same time each week, in the evening UK time, and stays in packs until the following Wednesday
- Prices dip when the squad drops. The new in-forms hit packs, the previous week's in-forms and a wave of freshly packed cards flood the market, and prices briefly fall
- The best in-forms rise after the hype. The strongest cards in each new squad get bought up fast once players realize how good they are, so early demand spikes their price
- Investing ahead of the reveal works on the base cards. Traders who correctly guess which players make the squad buy their base versions beforehand, then sell those base cards after they go out of packs and climb on scarcity
The predictable weekly cycle means you never have to guess when the market will move. You just have to position yourself before it does.
How to Use TOTW for Trading and Coins
TOTW isn't just a pack event. It's a trading calendar, and the people who make the most from it treat it that way:
- Buy base cards of likely in-forms before the drop. When a player makes the squad, their base card is pulled from packs for the week, supply dries up, and the base card's own price climbs. That's when you sell the base card itself for the profit
- Snag the previous week's in-forms during the dip. When a new squad drops, last week's cards often sell off cheap as attention shifts, and they usually recover a few days later
- Use TOTW cards as SBC fodder. In-forms are frequently required in Squad Building Challenges, so their value holds and spikes whenever a good SBC demands them
- Watch the TOTW upgrade SBCs. EA regularly runs challenges that let you exchange fodder for a chance at an in-form, and the value depends entirely on the current SBC market
The underlying idea is simple: TOTW gives you a weekly calendar of predictable price movements, and you either trade on them or you don't. The players who do are the ones with full coin balances.

What TOTW Means for Your Squad
The honest truth is that most in-forms aren't worth chasing for your starting eleven. The upgrades are usually modest, and the price premium for a card that's only a few points better than the base version rarely makes sense on a budget. The one exception is those big-boost cards from lower-rated players, which can be real bargains for an early squad.
Where in-forms do matter is in their scarcity and their use as SBC fodder. A low-rated in-form is often worth more in a Squad Building Challenge than it is on your pitch, and that's where a lot of their market value actually comes from.
So the smart approach is to treat TOTW as two things at once: a trading calendar that you can profit from, and a source of SBC cards that hold their value. Chase the in-forms that genuinely improve your team, and sell or hold the rest as fodder. That's how TOTW actually makes you coins.
