Diablo 4 Endgame Guide: What to Do After Level 60

Sep 17, 2026

Hitting level 60 in Diablo 4 is where the real game starts. The campaign is over, the skill tree is full, and suddenly you're staring at a wall of systems: Torment tiers, glyphs, Masterworking, boss rotations. It's a lot, and the game doesn't do a great job of pointing you in the right order.

I've watched plenty of players hit 60 and stall because they tried to do everything at once. The endgame has a rhythm to it, and once you find that rhythm, the progression feels natural. Here's how I'd approach a fresh level 60.

Get Your Torment Tier Right

The Torment system replaced the old World Tiers, and it's the first thing to sort out at 60. Torment I through IV each raise monster level and drop quality, and the jump between them is real.

The mistake I see constantly is players pushing into a Torment tier they can't clear efficiently. If a Nightmare Dungeon or Helltide takes twice as long as it should, you're better off dropping down a tier. Drop quality scales with Torment, but clear speed matters more. A fast Torment II is worth more per hour than a slow Torment III.

Move up when the content starts to feel easy. Move down when you're dying to trash. The tiers are there to match your power curve, not to be a ladder you climb on principle.

Level Your Glyphs in The Pit

The Pit is the centerpiece of early endgame progression, and it's where your glyphs get their levels. Glyph leveling lives here now, so if your Paragon board feels weak, The Pit is the answer.

The loop is simple. Run The Pit at a tier you can clear quickly, dump the glyph experience into your core glyphs at the end, and repeat. Don't spread the experience thin across every glyph. Pick the two or three that matter for your build and push them first.

Higher Pit tiers drop more glyph experience per run, but the same rule applies as everywhere else in the endgame: speed beats difficulty. Clear fast at a lower tier and you'll level glyphs faster than crawling through a higher one. As your glyphs climb, the higher tiers open up naturally.

Build Your Gear With Tempering and Masterworking

Once your glyphs are moving, your gear is the next lever. This is where Tempering and Masterworking come in, and understanding the order matters.

Temper first. Tempering adds an extra affix to a piece of gear from a category based on the slot. Ancestral gear can hold two tempered affixes, one from each recipe tier, while lower-rarity pieces are limited to a single one. Tempering has limited rolls, and if you burn through them without hitting a good affix, the piece is effectively bricked. Scrolls of Restoration come from Season Journey rewards and endgame activities like the Dark Citadel and World Bosses, and they let you reset a failed temper to try again.

One thing worth knowing early: Greater Affixes only come from drops. A piece either drops with them or it doesn't. Tempering can't create one, so a good base item with a Greater Affix is worth holding onto.

Masterwork after tempering. Masterworking pushes a piece to rank 12, with each rank boosting all its affixes, and big bonus hits at ranks 4, 8, and 12. It burns Obducite and gold, so don't sink it into a piece you'll replace tomorrow. A failed temper wastes nothing but time. A wasted Masterwork burns real materials.

Farm Materials and Gold on the Side

Endgame progression is hungry for materials, and the smart players build a steady income instead of farming reactively. These are the loops that keep the bank full:

The key is not to farm one thing until you hate it. Rotate through these based on what's actually blocking you, and the materials pile up without feeling like a second job.

Chase Mythic Uniques and Bosses

The last piece of the endgame is the Mythic Unique chase. This is where boss farming takes over, and it's the part that keeps players logged in for the long haul:

When a Mythic drops, it's either an upgrade or a spark. Salvaging a Mythic Unique returns one Resplendent Spark, and the Jeweler gives you two ways to spend them: two sparks plus the required runes crafts a specific Mythic of your choice, while two sparks plus 50 million gold rolls a random Mythic instead. The gold option is the fallback for players who don't have the specific runes a targeted craft demands. Regular Uniques don't give sparks, so don't hold a pile of them expecting otherwise.

The endgame clicks when you stop seeing these systems as separate chores and start seeing them as one loop. Run The Pit for glyphs and Obducite, temper and Masterwork the good drops, farm materials in the background, and bank boss kills for Mythic chances. Each piece feeds the next, and the progression stops feeling like a wall and starts feeling like momentum.
