AION 2: How to Obtain Soul Crystals

Soul Crystals are an important material used in raising your pet's Genus Insight, primarily for Genus Analysis and stat resets. Note that Soul Crystals are not the same item as the Souls obtained from hunting monsters. Souls are mainly used to raise Insight in the corresponding branch, while Soul Crystals are used for Genus Analysis and stat adjustments. As your pet's Insight level rises, the number of Soul Crystals you consume increases accordingly. The channels that reliably produce Soul Crystals are currently fairly limited, so it is worth accumulating them steadily during everyday play and planning how you spend them.

Duty Quests

Duty Quests are one of the more stable sources of Soul Crystals. Once your character reaches around level 45, the related content unlocks, and you can open the Duty Quest interface through J → Duty → Missions. Each account can accept up to five quests per day. Quest rewards are displayed across several slots, and each slot carries a different drop chance. The first slot is a guaranteed reward, while the second through fifth slots appear with decreasing probability. When choosing a Duty Quest, focus on whether the first slot contains a Soul Crystal. If a Soul Crystal appears only in a later slot, the quest is not worth taking for that reward alone. When the board offers nothing suitable, you can spend Kinah to refresh it. It is generally recommended to limit refreshes to two per day. If a refresh still fails to produce a quest with a Soul Crystal in the first slot, simply complete a quest with a high-value reward instead; there is no reason to keep spending Kinah chasing a single Soul Crystal.

Weekly Shop

The Weekly Shop sells Soul Crystal (Bound) for 10,000 Kinah each, with a purchase limit of 100 per character per week. This source offers a fixed quantity and a clear reset cycle, making it well suited to long-term accumulation. Unlike Duty Quests, the Weekly Shop requires no quest filtering, so it is best to complete this purchase as soon as the shop resets to avoid missing the weekly fixed amount. For characters currently raising their pet's Insight, buying Soul Crystals each week can serve as part of your regular material accumulation, alongside Duty Quests and event rewards.

Battle Pass and Limited-Time Events

The Battle Pass grants Special Soul Crystal (Bound), and each item provides one special Soul Crystal. In addition, festival events, in-game events, and official livestream redemption codes may also provide Soul Crystal (Bound). These rewards are not a fixed source; the quantity and availability change with each event. For example, some official livestream codes have granted 200 Soul Crystals. While an event is active, confirm the reward contents and claim them promptly.

Once your pet reaches level 5, you can also continue hunting monsters of the same branch to accumulate the corresponding Souls. After that branch meets the relevant condition, the Souls you have gained can be converted into a branch-specific crystal, which is then used to reset the Insight slot for that branch. This lets you reduce the amount of generic Soul Crystals spent on early Insight raising. Because of this, when raising the first four pages of Insight, you can prioritize the branch-specific crystal of each branch and reserve the limited generic Soul Crystals for branches you need later. The exchange interface also has a search function in the lower-left corner; entering "Soul Crystal" shows the items and entries currently available for exchange. Since event contents can change, it is worth checking the exchange interface each time you obtain a new exchange item.

Insight Branches Tied to Soul Crystals

Soul Crystals correspond to Insight branches of different colors, which currently include the following:

Blue: Cogni

Red: Fera

Green: Natura

Yellow: Varian

Light blue / rainbow: Special Insight

Using generic Soul Crystals requires planning around your Insight level and stat needs. Special Insight includes stats such as Pierce, Damage Amplification, Weapon Amplification, and PVE damage, all of which carry high value in late-game raising. It is therefore worth prioritizing generic Soul Crystals toward Special Insight and gradually raising it to level 10. The first four Insight branches, by contrast, can be raised through a max-level pet that keeps hunting monsters of the corresponding type to accumulate branch-specific crystals. This lowers your consumption of generic Soul Crystals and concentrates the limited material on Special Insight.

Note that it is not advisable to lock in stats too early, before Insight reaches level 9–10. Stat values obtained at low levels usually still have plenty of room to change, and locking them too early may cost you extra when you replace the stats after raising Insight later. It is better to raise the Insight level first and then decide whether to lock based on the final stat values.

Soul Crystals are obtained mainly through Duty Quests, the Weekly Shop, the Battle Pass, and limited-time events. During daily raising, complete the Duty Quests that reward Soul Crystals first, buy the fixed weekly quantity from the shop, and keep an eye on events and redemption codes. For the first four Insight branches, use their branch-specific crystals as much as possible and concentrate generic Soul Crystals on Special Insight. Accumulating materials on a fixed schedule reduces the risk of running short during late-game Insight raising and leaves enough Soul Crystals reserved for high-level stat adjustments.
