Lineage Classic Mage Update Analysis

May 9, 2026
Share:

In the latest update to Lineage Classic, the Mage class has undergone adjustments to its skill mechanics, output structure, and combat rhythm, resulting in more stable performance in both monster-killing efficiency and team damage output. With the optimization of the ranged magic output system, the focus of Mage gameplay shifts more towards skill rotation management and combat positioning control.

Mage Skill Mechanism Updates and Output Adjustments

This update includes several optimizations to the Mage skill system, primarily focusing on skill damage values, casting smoothness, and mana consumption structure. The damage coefficient of core output skills has been increased, making the Mage's burst damage more prominent in mid-to-late game monster killing and team battles. Simultaneously, the skill release delay has been reduced, allowing for smoother combos. The mana consumption structure has also been adjusted, so output no longer relies on a single skill rotation but requires reasonable resource allocation based on the combat rhythm, thereby improving overall sustained combat capability.

Changes to Mage Survivability and Defense Mechanisms

The Mage has received some survivability improvements in this update, including increased base magic defense and enhanced damage reduction mechanisms, increasing its margin for error when facing high-strength monsters. Although still considered a fragile class, proper positioning and skill control can significantly reduce the risk of being killed in melee combat. In actual combat, it's crucial to pay close attention to positioning, avoiding entering the enemy's melee range, and utilizing control skills and slowing effects to create distance and a safe environment for sustained damage output.

Optimization of Mage Monster-Grinding Efficiency and Leveling Rhythm

The updated mage demonstrates more stable monster-grinding efficiency. Optimized area-of-effect skills significantly improve monster-clearing speed, making leveling smoother. Increased skill range and damage give mages a stronger advantage in areas with dense monsters, while optimized mana regeneration extends sustained combat time.

l Increased area-of-effect skill damage, improving the speed of clearing groups of monsters

l Optimized skill cooldowns, enhancing combo fluidity

l Improved mana regeneration mechanism, extending survivability

l Enhanced group control skills, improving monster-grinding safety

l Enhanced single-target burst damage, accelerating elite monster kills

Through proper skill combinations, leveling efficiency can be significantly improved, making the growth rhythm more stable.

Changes in Team Combat and Dungeon Roles

In team gameplay, mages still primarily fulfill the role of ranged DPS, but their output stability is significantly enhanced. With strengthened area-of-effect skills, their contribution in group battles is higher, and their sustained DPS against bosses is also more consistent. In dungeons, maintaining a safe distance for DPS is crucial, and teammates' control and protection are essential for survivability. Skill release rhythm needs to be adjusted according to the battle phase to achieve a more reasonable balance between burst and sustained DPS, thereby improving overall team efficiency.

Equipment Selection and Late-Game Growth Direction

After the update, mage equipment leans more towards spell attack enhancement and mana sustain. High spell attack equipment significantly increases skill damage, while mana regeneration and casting speed ensure sustained DPS. Some equipment affixes can also optimize skill release rhythm, making overall gameplay smoother. Late-game growth focuses on strengthening core skills and optimizing equipment attributes. By upgrading key skill levels and properly combining
