Black Desert Hyperboost Gear Progression Guide

Aug 6, 2026
Share: WhatsAppReddit

With the launch of hyperboost, Black Desert's gear upgrade path now features a fast track that did not exist in previous versions. From season character graduation through Olvia Academy to the Black Shrine solo bosses, completing the entire route can push a character's gear score from zero to approximately 730 to 750. What previously took the better part of a year in enhancement accumulation is now concentrated into roughly seven hours of active playtime. This route covers all core slots across the three major equipment categories—weapons, armor, and accessories. The following sections break down the materials needed and acquisition methods at each enhancement milestone.

Black Desert Hyperboost Gear Progression Guide

PEN Tuvala

The first change brought by hyperboost is the stat increase for Tuvala gear. PEN (V) Tuvala weapons and armor now match the stats of PEN (V) boss gear, no longer sitting at TET level. This means a season character at graduation already stands on an equipment foundation that previously took months of enhancement to achieve. Level-up challenges from level 38 to 61 grant PEN Tuvala pieces one by one, and a full set is naturally assembled by level 61. The old boss gear exchange coupons have been removed and replaced with 1,000G Gold Bars.

Blackstar Weapons and the Sovereign Weapon Transition

After graduating and entering Olvia Academy, enrolling automatically grants a PEN (V) Blackstar Weapon Selection Box. This box now includes a sub-weapon option, covering two of the three weapon slots. The Sovereign weapon crafting recipe requires a PEN Blackstar weapon plus a Flame of the Primordial as a catalyst material. Synthesizing a Flame of the Primordial requires two sets of fifty Primordial Embers each, obtained from boss drops and Olvia Academy coin exchanges respectively. The coin exchange purchase limit has been raised to ten in hyperboost.

The Sovereign sub-weapon recipe requires one more material than the main-hand and awakening weapons. A Gem of Twilight comes from the "Straggler" quest in the Olvia Academy combat course, and completing it saves 20,000 Caphras Stones in costs. Sovereign weapon enhancement and repair rely on Obsidian Hammers, with the course missions and coin exchanges providing four or more in total. Two Inverted Hearts of Garmoth are installed into the Sovereign main-hand and awakening weapons respectively, each granting +3 AP, and the heart acquisition playtime requirement has been shortened from 200 hours to 100 hours.

The Six-Piece Kharazad Accessory Set

In the hyperboost route, the accessory slots are filled in one go by the Kharazad series. After completing the Olvia Academy entry quest, visit Alustin in Velia. Each of the six slots has its own exchange quest. Each slot requires 10 Essence of Dawn and 50 Sharp Black Crystal Shards. Six pieces total 60 Essence of Dawn and 300 Sharp Shards. The quests are limited to once per family, and the PEN (V) Kharazad accessories obtained are usable account-wide. The enhancement ceiling for Kharazad extends beyond PEN. The Emma Bartali's Record Log within the Olvia Academy Adventure Log provides complete enhancement support from PEN to OCT (VIII):

Ancient Black Stone PEN (V): A guaranteed enhancement stone from PEN to HEX (VI), with two produced in the first six chapters of the log.

Ancient Black Stone HEX (VI): A guaranteed enhancement stone from HEX to SEP (VII), requiring completion of Black Shrine bosses on party hard mode.

Ancient Black Stone SEP (VII): A guaranteed enhancement stone from SEP to OCT (VIII), with two produced in chapter 13 of the log.

Ancient Hammer PEN / HEX: Prevents enhancement level drop on failure, used as insurance at milestones where guaranteed stones are insufficient to cover all attempts.

The Four-Piece Slumbering Origin Armor Set

The four pieces of Slumbering Origin gear—Labreska's Helmet, Fallen God's Armor, Dahn's Gloves, and Ator's Shoes—are obtained through solo boss battles in the Black Shrine. The Golden Pig King at Calamity 8 drops the helmet, and at Calamity 9 drops the shoes. Sangoon at Calamity 8 drops the armor. Gumiho at Calamity 8 drops the gloves. Hyperboost has heavily nerfed these bosses. Their HP has been reduced to about 26% to 28% of the original, and attack power has been lowered by roughly 60% to 70%. Community feedback places the actual difficulty of C8 below that of the old C3. After completing the corresponding tale quests, speak with the Black Spirit to accept the armor exchange quests. The Agris Essence stack cap has been lowered at the same time, and the guaranteed enhancement progression for Slumbering Origin gear has been greatly accelerated. Taking the Wailing stage as an example, what previously required 50 essence stacks now requires only 20.

Every enhancement milestone on the hyperboost gear upgrade route—from PEN Tuvala, PEN Blackstar, and Sovereign weapons to Kharazad accessories and Slumbering Origin armor—has a corresponding quest that directly provides the core materials, eliminating the need to rely on marketplace bidding wars or long-term grinding accumulation. The entire route takes approximately seven hours of active playtime. Combined with the stat bonuses from the Land of the Morning Light main quest, Igor Bartali's Adventure Log, and Magnus, the final gear score can land stably around 750. After completing all missions and obtaining the corresponding rewards, the character already meets the equipment requirements for participating in most current endgame content.
