Diablo 4 Gear Value Ranking
In Diablo 4, gear value cannot be judged simply by item color or rarity. Once a character enters endgame content, the real value of an item depends more on whether it fits the current build, whether it has Greater Affixes (GA), whether its affixes are desirable, and whether it has strong potential for further crafting. For players who regularly farm gear or trade items, a practical way to evaluate equipment is to divide it into four tiers: T0, T1, T2, and T3.

How to Judge the Diablo 4 Gear Value Tiers
- T0: Mythic Unique Items
Mythic Unique items are generally considered the highest-value equipment tier for endgame characters. Examples include the Harlequin Crest and Tyrael's Might. These items provide extremely powerful and broadly useful bonuses rather than being restricted to a very narrow build. Bonuses such as increased skill levels, damage reduction, resistance improvements, and other powerful attributes can directly improve a character's overall combat performance. For players pushing difficult endgame content, Mythic Uniques often have extremely high value and can be difficult to replace.
- T1: Core Unique Items and 2GA–4GA Legendary Items
Core Unique items can determine how certain builds function and how their skills interact. When a particular build relies heavily on a specific Unique item, that item can have extremely high practical value. At the same time, Legendary items with two, three, or even four Greater Affixes can become highly valuable gear pieces, especially when their GA bonuses appear on important stats required by the build.
- T2: Legendary Items with a Correct 1GA Affix
A Legendary item with only one Greater Affix is not automatically low-value. If its single GA appears on an important attribute such as a core skill level, attack speed, critical chance, resource generation, or another key stat, it can still become an excellent endgame item. The location and type of the GA matter just as much as the number of GAs.
- T3: Legendary Items Without GA but with Correct Affixes
Legendary gear without Greater Affixes still has practical value. For characters that have just entered endgame content, a Legendary item with three useful affixes can provide an effective transition setup. As the character becomes stronger, these items can gradually be replaced with 1GA, 2GA, or higher-quality equipment.
This tier system provides a practical way to evaluate gear while farming and helps players quickly determine which items deserve further investment.
Why Greater Affixes Determine Legendary Gear Value
Greater Affixes, commonly called GA, are one of the most important indicators of high-quality Legendary equipment. However, simply having a GA does not automatically make an item valuable. The real value comes from whether the GA is attached to an attribute that the current build actually needs.
For example, if a damage-focused build heavily depends on attack speed, a Legendary item with a GA on attack speed can be considerably more valuable than an item with a GA on a less relevant defensive attribute.
When picking up a Legendary item, players can check:
- Whether the item has a Greater Affix.
- Whether the GA is attached to a core build stat.
- Whether the remaining affixes are also useful.
- Whether the item fits the current class and build.
- Whether the item has good Tempering potential.
- Whether it is worth investing Masterworking materials into.
Players should also distinguish between 1GA, 2GA, 3GA, and 4GA equipment. A higher number of GAs generally means greater potential, but several GAs placed on irrelevant stats can still make an item less valuable than a 1GA item with the perfect key affix.
Tempering Must Be Successful Before Serious Masterworking
Tempering and Masterworking should not be treated as completely independent stages of gear progression. For players building endgame equipment, the result of Tempering is an important prerequisite for deciding whether an item deserves further investment.
After obtaining a high-quality Legendary item, players should check its base affixes and GA distribution before starting the Tempering process. Tempering has limited attempts, meaning an item can lose much of its value if the desired affixes cannot be obtained before the available attempts are exhausted. This is particularly important for high-value GA equipment because a failed Tempering process can effectively ruin an otherwise excellent gear base.
Only after the Tempering results meet the requirements of the build does it make sense to invest heavily in Masterworking. Masterworking can further improve existing attributes, but spending large amounts of materials on an item with poor base affixes or failed Tempering results is inefficient.
For equipment trading, this distinction is extremely important. A high-GA item with failed Tempering can be less desirable than an item with fewer GAs but highly favorable Tempering results. This is why endgame gear value cannot be determined from the item level or GA count alone.

Why Mythic Unique Items Have the Highest General Value
One of the biggest differences between Mythic Unique and standard Unique equipment is the broad usefulness of Mythic Unique items. Items such as Harlequin Crest and Tyrael's Might can fit into a wide range of powerful endgame builds rather than serving only one highly specialized setup.
Their value generally comes from several key characteristics:
- Strong bonuses to core character abilities.
- Powerful defensive and damage-reduction effects.
- High-value universal attributes.
- Compatibility with multiple classes or builds.
- Long-term usefulness in high-level endgame content.
For this reason, Mythic Unique items generally belong in the T0 tier of an endgame gear value ranking. Their value is not based only on rarity. Their combination of power, versatility, and demand for endgame builds makes them highly desirable.
Some specialized builds may have alternative equipment choices, but this does not mean Mythic Unique items should be placed in the same value category as ordinary Legendary gear. Their overall versatility and endgame performance give them a significantly higher baseline value.
Endgame Gear Selection and Trading Value
Once a character reaches endgame, players can obtain a large number of items during a single farming session. Checking every item in detail can significantly reduce farming efficiency. A better approach is to establish a consistent filtering system, identify T0 and high-value T1 items quickly, and then determine which remaining equipment deserves crafting resources.
A practical gear-filtering process includes:
- Check Mythic Unique items first and verify their attributes and applications.
- Inspect 2GA or higher Legendary items carefully.
- For 1GA items, determine whether the GA affects an important build stat.
- For non-GA Legendary gear, check whether all three affixes fit the build.
- Confirm Tempering potential before committing to Masterworking.
- Avoid spending large amounts of materials simply because an item has a high item level.
- Check the current class, build, and seasonal meta before trading valuable gear.
Gear value can change with class balance, build trends, and endgame systems, but the basic evaluation logic remains useful:
Rarity determines initial attention, Unique effects determine build value, strong affixes determine practical performance, Greater Affixes determine the potential of Legendary gear, Tempering determines whether an item can move toward endgame development, and Masterworking determines its final growth potential.
For a Diablo 4 equipment sales website, this evaluation system is also more useful than simply listing the “most expensive” items. Players are usually looking for equipment that fits their class and build, has strong affixes, and offers meaningful endgame potential rather than simply chasing the rarest item name.
