AION 2 Spiritmaster Early Game Macro Setup
In AION 2, the Spiritmaster (also called the Elementalist in English-speaking communities) is a ranged magic class that fights mainly by summoning four elemental spirits. Early progression usually centers on raising magic attack. The class's damage is closely tied to having a spirit on the field—once the spirits disappear, your output drops off noticeably. Switching spirits by hand is tedious on its own, and it can also throw off the timing of your skills.

The Spirits Are Your Damage
The Spiritmaster's four spirits aren't ordinary pets that trail behind you; they're summoned units you place in combat. Each element fills a different role: Fire Spirit handles burst damage, Water Spirit restores HP and clears debuffs, Earth Spirit provides defense, and Wind Spirit favors mobility, which rarely matters in early-game PvE. The whole point is to keep a spirit on the field as the fight demands. When the spirits vanish, your damage suffers sharply, so new players should first get a feel for managing their spirits rather than staring at skill cooldowns.
What Goes in a Macro
In AION 2, you open the skill menu with the K key and switch to the Macro tab in the top-right corner to create a macro, then bind it to the right mouse button or a free number key in the key settings. The point isn't to pack in as many skills as possible; it's to group skills by cooldown and activation conditions. Short-cooldown attack skills you can loop through a whole fight belong in the macro, while long-cooldown burst skills, skills that need charging or special conditions, and reactive abilities like dodge and block are better left to manual control. For early-game PvE, a macro with four to six skills covers the basic rotation. Packing in too many makes the skill order and combat rhythm harder to control and harder to adjust on the fly.

Set the Delay to Your Ping
The delay between macro skills has to be tuned to your network latency (ping). Set it too low and some skills won't chain properly; set it too high and the rotation slows down, cutting into your output. A good starting point:
- Ping under 50ms: set the delay to 5–10ms
- Ping 50–100ms: set the delay to 10–20ms
- Ping 100–150ms: set the delay to 20–30ms
- Higher ping: adjust gradually based on how your skills chain
After finishing the macro, press Ctrl+X to open the in-game DPS meter and run several rounds on a training dummy. Change only one skill or one delay parameter at a time, then compare the numbers before and after. If a change reliably improves your output by around 3–5%, it's worth keeping.
An Early Rotation to Follow
If you're not sure how to sequence your skills, follow this order for early-game PvE: summon Earth Spirit first to establish defense, switch to Fire Spirit once you've locked onto your target for your main damage, and move to Water Spirit when your HP drops low enough to need recovery. After cycling through all four spirits, use Elemental Fusion for a burst. For skills, open with Chilling Shock to slow and control, use Flame Scorch as your main damage, add Soul Scream's AoE fear when you're facing several enemies, and lean on Siphon for sustained fighting.
- Keeping a spirit on the field is the foundation of stable Spiritmaster damage.
- Chilling Shock opens the fight; Flame Scorch is your main damage skill.
- Water Spirit handles healing and sustained fighting.
- Elemental Fusion is your burst window.
In the early game, the Spiritmaster doesn't lean entirely on gear to farm faster. A well-configured macro, a comfortable grasp of spirit switching, and a stable skill rotation do as much for your farming speed as raw gear upgrades. The value of a macro isn't in any single skill's damage number—it's whether the four to six skills inside form a complete, stable rotation. Start by learning what each spirit does in a fight, then build the macro around cooldowns and the real rhythm of combat. Only once spirit switching, skill use, and the macro loop work together smoothly does the Spiritmaster fully deliver on its ranged magic and summoning strengths.
