Fallout 76 Fastest Screw Farming Route

Screws are a commonly used material in Fallout 76 for repairing and crafting weapons and armor, with consumption rising noticeably after the mid-game. Rather than scattering searches across the map, a fixed farming route yields far more — from multi-vendor sweeps at the Whitespring Mall, to the fixed junk spawns at the Summersville burnt book house, to the screw-bearing items around the Flatwoods church. A complete run along this route can reliably produce dozens of screws within fifteen minutes. The following sections break down the specific items and vendors to watch for at each stop along the route.

Whitespring Mall

The route begins at Whitespring, chosen because the location offers free fast travel and the mall interior allows movement between multiple vendors without loading screens. After entering the mall, head directly to the vendor opposite the Artisans shop — this vendor tends to have Bulk Screws in stock more frequently. Then make your way toward Whitespring Spa; the vendor inside the spa may also carry Bulk Screws, and the two vendor locations are less than thirty seconds apart.

After leaving the spa, follow the corridor toward the Black Powder shop and check whether its inventory contains screws for sale. Then head to the adjacent Captain Kids toy store — this is the highest screw-yielding location in the Whitespring Mall outside of vendor channels. The toy trucks and Giddyup Buttercup horse toys (whether the full version or body parts) scattered on the floor all contain screws:

Toy trucks and toy cars contain one to three screws each, and Captain Kids usually has multiple pieces scattered around the shop at the same time.

Captain Kids' own inventory occasionally sells an entire Giddyup Buttercup — if one appears, purchasing it directly provides a guaranteed three screws.

Before leaving the mall, check the cabins north of the Whitespring Golf Club along the way — desk fans and typewriters often sit on the tables, each providing two screws.

Summersville: The Burnt Book House's Fixed Spawns

From Whitespring, head toward Summersville. The northernmost house in Summersville — known in the player community as the "Professor's House" or "Burnt Book House" — is the second major stop on this route. A typewriter and a toy truck spawn consistently on the desk on the ground floor, each yielding one to two screws. This house also serves as the item spawn table reset point — the house contains over 250 burnt books, and looting all of them will refresh the spawn status of all previously collected items across the map. If unwanted items were accidentally picked up at Whitespring or other stops, causing spawn points to stall, a run through the burnt book house is the most efficient way to reset the spawn table.

Flatwoods and Extension Stops

From Summersville, continue on to Flatwoods. Desk fans are scattered inside the Flatwoods church and in several surrounding houses — the ground-floor office of the church and the kitchen area of the neighboring residence are the most common spawn spots. If the Flatwoods yield is unsatisfactory, the route can be extended toward Morgantown High School: desk fans and typewriters are densely distributed on the desks throughout the classrooms, reliably producing over fifteen screws per run. Further east, the second floor of the Abandoned Bog Town police station concentrates multiple typewriters and desk fans, making it a suitable final stop to close out the full route.

The efficiency of this farming route stems from the multi-vendor coverage and Captain Kids' fixed junk spawns at the Whitespring Mall, the fixed spawns and item table reset function of the Summersville burnt book house, and the office item distribution at Flatwoods and its extension stops. The entire run uses Whitespring's free fast travel as a pivot, advances one-way along the stop order, and takes approximately fifteen minutes in total.
